Published by Star Comics, a division of Marvel Comics which produced many of the comics based upon popular cartoons, the ThunderCats comics began with Issue #1 in December of 1985 and ended in June of 1988 with Issue #24. Some of the stories were slightly altered versions of episodes from the cartoon, while others were cleverly added adventures.

Issue #1: Survival Run! |
| This issue is basically Exodus, retold in comic book form. The home world of the ThunderCats, Thundera, explodes, causing the ThunderCats to leave the planet with the prized Sword of Omens in search for a new place to live. |
Issue #2: Tears of Sunrise |

| Lion-o eats some really bad, poisonous berries. Mumm-ra uses this to his advantage, and the other 'Cats must save the day without him. |

Issue #3: Siege in Silver and Stone |
| Panthro saves a warrior maiden named Tessa from a bunch of rockmen goons, but soon realizes his plan isn't as rock solid as he'd have hoped for. |
Issue #4: Jaga's Quest |

| This issue introduces Lynxana, an almost ThunderCat turned bounty hunter, whose goal is to capture the ThunderCats and turn them in for a hefty reward. |

Issue #5: To Plunder Castle Plun-Darr |
| A continuation of the story with Lynxana, and we nearly see the demise of the young lord. The ThunderCats must now escape from the mutants lair where they were being held as prisoners. |
Issue #6: Mumm-Ra Times Three |

| With Lynxana now on their side, the ThunderCats go after Mumm-Ra - with the mutants as allies!? |

Issue #7: Back to Thundera |
| A river begins to flood, and the ThunderCats help to protect the Berbil Village by building a retaining wall. After Lion-o is struck by lightening, he and Cheetara somehow end up on Prehistoric Thundera. |
Issue #8: To the Victor, The Spoils |

| The ThunderCats celebrate the finishing of a new aqueduct with a day of Thunderian sports. Then things get bad, as per usual, and the ThunderCats begin to insult one another. |

Issue #9: The Price of Pride |
| Panthro accidentally injures the spying Prince Pek of the rockmen, and Mumm-Ra convinces the prince's subjects to attack the ThunderCats. |
Issue #10: Graveyard of Memories |

| This issue begins with the ThunderCats hunting for a rumpa. While the rest fend off the mutants, Panthro continues to hunt, and accidentally desecrates a graveyard. |

Issue #11: The Enemy Below |
| When the mole people begin to wreck the grounds surrounding Cat's Lair, Lion-o turns to Jaga for advice on how to deal with the situation. Things get worse when Lion-o, Tygra, and Cheetara become trapped in a cave-in, leaving Panthro, Snarf, and the twins to be captured by the mole people. |
Issue #12: Berzerker Rage |

| This story includes the introduction of the Nai race, a group of fisherfolk who are being harassed by the Berzerkers, a nasty band of pirates. The ThunderCats step in to help, though Cheetara is suspicious of Lion-o's reasons for assisting the Nai. |

Issue #13: Snarf Takes Up the Challenge |
| This issue is the episode Snarf Takes Up the Challenge, told in comic book form. Mumm-ra contructs an evil plan to capture the ThunderCats and entomb them - will Snarf be able to save them in time? |
Issue #14: Safari Jo |

| This issue is a retelling of the episode Safari Joe, despite the different spelling of the name. A big game hunter, in search of the ultimate beast to capture, goes on a hunt on Third Earth - A ThunderCat hunt! |

Issue #15: The Time Capsule |
| Here, the episode The Time Capsule is recounted in comic book format. When Lion-o learns that the history of his lost homeworld of Thundera can be found by watching a device that crashed somewhere on Third Earth, he and the rest of the ThunderCats search Third Earth in hopes of finding the Opticrystal. |
Issue #16: The Queen of Eight Legs |

Issue #17: Tower of Traps |
| An adaptation of the episode Tower of Traps. Wilykat becomes trapped in a rundown old tower while he and his sister are exploring the area around it. Wilykit and Lion-o attempt to rescue him, while navigating through the mysterious tower. |

| This issue is a retelling of the episode Pumm-Ra. While out for a run early one morning, Cheetara suddenly passes out - and awakes to find she has been rescued from the mutants by fellow thunderian Pumm-Ra...or has she? |

Issue #19: DoomGaze |
| An adaptation of the episode The Doom-Gaze. Mumm-Ra summons his sister Tashi, keeper of the Doom Gaze, in order to overthrow the ThunderCats. But before she can help him, he must gather a number of items so that she can leave the Time Warp Prison, including a hero to take her place. |
Issue #20: Excalibur |

| This issue is a retelling of the episode Excalibur. Mumm-Ra's latest plan to overthrow the ThunderCats includes retrieving one weapon that is stronger than the Sword of Omens - the mighty blade Excalibur. |

Issue #21: Father Snarf |
| Snarf finds a bundle of joy on the doorstep, and tries to enlist the help of the Canineans to care for the pup. However, he is greated by less than friendly townsfolk. |
Issue #22: Bad Playmates |

| Vultureman creates a pair of Thunderkitten decoys to take the real Thunderkittens' places. The adults must attempt to save them after being interrupted at the Nai Harvest Festival and attacked by a big green sea dragon. |

Issue #23: Dr. Dometone |
| In this adapted version of the episode Dr. Dometone, Lion-o helps a doctor who is part of an underwater culture with a big problem. |
Issue #24: Through a Dark Glass |

| The pod people invade Third Earth! During a mushroom picking expedition in the Forest of Silence, Wilykit and Wilykat come across strange pods hanging from trees containing evil replicas of the ThunderCats. This last issue pits the ThunderCats against their evil duplicates in the midst of a war between the Peak and Canyon tribes. |
