Welcome to the part of this web site that you probably wished you hadn't stumbled upon. It's more information than you ever cared to know about that half cheetah, half bot, and the librarian that created her. So, pull up a chair, and let the storytelling begin.
I hope you're enjoying my online tribute to my all-time favorite cartoon show, ThunderCats. Dr.Zhie, a king cheetah Thundarian who practices medicine at the Snarfria Free Clinic is the character I've adapted as my online persona. My husband has been kind enough to put up with my love of ThunderCats, and created for the doctor a snow leopard companion called Faero. Together, they live in the city of Lonsdale with their adopted cubs, Panethea and Leonus Gruen. Most recently, they've added adopted twin cheetah cubs, Allen and Barry. And now, meet Reuthanya, a lion cub adopted in December of 2002.
ThunderCats was on air in Milwaukee when I was five, and I've been watching it in one form or another since then. Now, they're back on and off of Cartoon Network, and various merchandise is being offered here and there, sparking interest and rekindling the spirit of truth, honor, justice, and loyalty in many. Most recently, the new ThunderCats comic written by Ford Gilmore is increasing the number of ThunderCats fans, online and off.
Previously, I ran a much out-of-date page entitled Panthro's Pad, a nice little place with a few laughs here and there, but difficult to update and an itty bitty living space. As of June of 2003, Panthro's Pad as it was on the University of Milwaukee-Wisconsin servers will cease to exist, but luckily, everything has been transferred over.
During any time that FurNation is up and running, I also have a chunk of space set up as my 'office'. It contains adult material pertaining to ThunderCats, as well as a few other works of fan fiction.

Name: Dr. Zhie [Dr. Zhie's birth name was Flessidoria Zhie. At barely the age of three, her mother was killed mysteriously and her father committed suicide. At that time, she was adopted by Lord ThunderWolf Leonus, and her name was changed to Flessidoria Leonus. During her time at the Su'Dahl Memorial University, where she received her Doctorate of Medicine, she legally changed her name to Dr. NFN NMI Zhie, though many who are familiar with her still call her Fless.] Legally, she is of the Zhhi-Joder clan, but still associates with the Leonus clan, the royal clan of Thundera, mostly just for the hell of it.
Age: Although the exact date of her birth was lost upon the death of her parents, the year of her birth was 2728, making the doctor about fifty-five during the Intermission stories.
Species: Born a king cheetah of the Zhhi-Joder clan, the doctor had a number of emergency procedures performed during a mission that replaced much of her physiology with mechanical devices normally used to create mechanical clones called 'bots'. Only from highly sensitive medical scans can one tell that she isn't completely organic. [Spoiler: For those reading this, here's a little nugget of news just for you! By Intermission Five, something's going to have been discovered that will allow Zhie to be completely cheetah again - I still haven't decided whether she'll go with it or not...]
Occupation: Currently, Dr. Zhie runs the Snarfria Free Clinic in the Intermission Universe. In the Minuet Universe, which includes any riffs and other comedic works, she is only one of the doctors who works at the clinic of the same name, but is a sex therapist/OB GYN instead. It is mentioned in the Intermission Universe that Dr. Zhie began her career as a general practitioner with expertise in gynecology and obstetrics, which would have made sense working in Cat's Lair during the time of a baby boom. Early in her medical career, she also served as a ThunderCat during the end of her adoptive father's rule as Lord of the ThunderCats. For an unknown reason, she was outcast from the group when ThunderWolf was forced to give up power, likely because of her ties to him.
Family: Dr. Zhie's birth parents were obviously both cheetahs, and both were in fact king cheetahs. Her father was Dr. Cazadorey Zhie, a noted psychologist, while her mother was a financial advisor named Furn Zhie. Both parents were connected to the Zhhi clan, but their heritage was separated fairly far so that the doctor was not considered to be inbred, though often times, this was the case for many of the offspring in the older clans. It was ThunderWolf, however, who raised her from the time she was a young cub until she began her medical career. Dr. Zhie would later meet a snow leopard known as Sgt. Faero while completing her fieldwork at the Su'Dahl Memorial University. Faero came to live with her at the Cat's Lair during the end of her adoptive father's reign, and continued to follow the cheetah in her various pursuits and adventures. Upon arriving on New Thundera, the two settled in a house in Lonsdale, and adopted one child: Panethea. Leonus Gruen, Barry, Allen, and Reuthanya soon followed. All of them are based on the cubs adopted from the two online orphanages, Memories of Thundera and the Adamante Orphanage. In the Minuet Universe, they keep a number of snarves at their residence as well. Faero and Zhie never marry in any of their existances.
Name: Zhie [No, really...I've been using the name since I was in high school. And before that, it was just "Z" without the extra letters. I added the rest of the silent ones so that I could actually sign things with that name, instead of just a letter. So, it's still pronounced the same way, but it looks more like an actual name. Found out in college that in Chinese, it means "this". Because of that tidbit of information, I changed the Dr. Zhie character from being just a cheetah, to being cybernetic, consequently changing her to this, in some respects.]
Age: Currently 26, born on May 25, 1979. Which means I'm a Gemini...ah, so that explains the wordy explanations!
Occupation: Academic Librarian
Family: In real life, I am married to Faero [a Pisces], who comes online only occasionally, and usually only to pee on ThunderWolf's sofa or kick him in the teeth or something like that. And they say you don't usually get along with your in-laws...
We don't have any human children, but we do have furry ones. All
girls, their names are Cappuccino, Celebnariel, Elektra, and Pinky from oldest to youngest
rat. We had two rats that were around at the same time as when
Cappuccino was a baby, Hershey, and Cherry, but they have since passed
away. [October 22, 2002 - Sadly, Hershey passed away this afternoon while I was
at work. Very unexpected, even though she was a year and a half, because
she's always been healthy. We buried her next to Faero's cat, Orville (AKA
Orry or Snarf), who had a thyroid problem and passed on this last summer.]
[March 9, 2003 - Cherry passed away early in the morning while Faero held her.]
Update: It's Saturday, October 11th, 2003. Planned to go to bed around 2 a.m. and heard strange noises from the rats. Found Cappuccino had passed away, likely sometime in the afternoon on the 10th. Poor thing had cancer, and it grew extremely fast. I can't say I was surprised, especially after Hershey and Cherry, but at the same time, her parents lived to be over four years old, so I had thought she was going to stick around for a while. I'm beginning to wonder if there's something going on in the neighborhood or something. [The 'strange noise' was Celebnariel. About a month ago or so, she was trying to help Cappuccino clean herself and became so upset about the condition she was in with the cancer, she made crying noises. Cappuccino immediately set to cuddling her. It's the only time I ever saw rats do that. Obviously, those two were very close, they even have the same markings, basically.]
Update: August 11, 2005 - The rats are all gone, but now we have kitties. An orange stripy one named Harley and a white, black, and grey girl named Oreo.
