Leonus Gruen's Club House

Leonus Gruen is the second cub that I adopted.  Leonus was adopted from  The Adamante Orphanage, where many children need YOUR help.   There are many Thunderian, Mutant, Snarf, and Lunatak children there in need of a good home. Panethea was getting to an age where she wanted a playmate around to torture snarves and play world domination with, and when I layed eyes upon little L.G., I was convinced that he would be the perfect brother for Panethea.  Boy, was I ever wrong.  The two of them fight so much like biological siblings, it's hard to tell the difference.  But, all in all, they get along fairly well together, and I'm so glad I took the time to take a look at the new agency.  Leonus has been a wonderful addition to the family.

Leonus recently expressed his concerns about how he was going to get to school this fall and still be 'cool', since riding in the wagon with the rest of his siblings was, in his mind, not an option.  We looked into getting him a bike, but then another idea came to mind - a spaceboard.  We headed to the local Adamante Children's Store and found this great board.  It has green fluorescent designs and striping around the edges to alert vehicles if it's dark outside while Leonus is riding his board.  There was a sale on the boards, so we picked up one for Panethea as well.  We also were sure to get something for each of the cubs so that no one felt left out.  You can see what we picked up for each of them by visiting their respective rooms.

Leonus has been riding his spaceboard everyday, even if only just to go across the yard and back.  During the first two weeks, his plan was to attempt every single semi dangerous stunt he'd ever seen performed using a spaceboard, but after a number of falls, he's decided to follow manufacturer directions for vehicle usage.  He's insisted on keeping it in his room instead of in the garage where Panethea's is, and on the weekends, I think he sneaks a can of furniture polish up to his room to shine up his spaceboard.

A few days ago, I found an ad in the local paper about a club for spaceboard beginners.  When I mentioned it to Leonus, he growled, and flatly told me he wasn't going to go to a club for babies.  Panethea, who was also at the table eating lunch at the time, thought she might want to join the club.  On the day of the next meeting, Leonus insisted on coming with us, for lack of a better thing to do.  Once inside the 'club house' ( room 216 at the area high school ), Leonus changed his attitude.  Nearly all of the kids were older than he was by a year or two, and they were all quite receptive of Panethea and Leonus.  Needless to say, I ended up dropping them both off for the meeting.  When I returned to pick them up, Panethea had decided against joining, as their frequent practice sessions would cut into ballet practice.  Leonus, however, had not only joined, but offered to fill the vacancy of Club Vice President.

Leonus decided that today would be a good day to put up the Christmas tree.  His reasoning?  The sooner the tree was up, the sooner presents would start going under it, the longer he would have to shake said presents and figure out what he was getting for Christmas.

The dilemma was that Faero was shoveling snow and I was at work, and Leonus isn't one to wait for people to be ready to help him when he wants to get something done.  So after digging around the house in an attempt to find the tree, Leonus decided on another plan.

Upon arriving home from work, I found in the middle of the living room the fichus from my library.  A number of makeshift paper ornaments had been made by the entire group of cubs, and taped with liberal amounts of scotch tape to the leaves.  A star, constructed from a toilet paper tube and tin foil adorned the highest part of the fichus, yet was heavily leaning to one side.  Under it, dozens of post-it notes covered the floor, all insisting that presents be placed beneath the tree, in large amounts, and as quickly as possible.  I'm locking my post-it notes in my desk from now on.

Leonus is getting quite impatient for his birthday to arrive, especially after the party we had for the cheetah twins just the other day.  For Leonus's party, we are holding it at the local roller rink, and most of the younger cubs will be staying in the care of a few of the parents while the rest of us chaperone the older kids.  Leonus is set on the fact that being that this is his ninth birthday, and Lion-O got the Sword of Omens when he was around the same age, that there's no reason he shouldn't expect some sort of sharp pointy object for his birthday.  I have a suspicion that Grandpa ThunderWolf's going to find the sharpest most dangerous sword and give it to him (wrapped with a bow, of course), so I'm not even going to try and reason with him.  I am insisted that Faero properly teach Leonus how to use the sword, however.  I would tell right now what I'm giving to Leonus, but since his Grandfather taught him how to hack onto the Internet and past the filter, I can't trust him not to look here and find out ahead of time.
